The 1792 is a French Restaurant and Bar who’s brand story is inspired by the history of France.

The name 1792 represents the year in which France was founded as a country.

I created the adorable rooster to reflect France’s national animal, the gallic rooster. The additional brand asset of the fish was created for the “from the sea” portion of the menu. A small beret was added to the assets for lightness, approachability, and humour while upholding a clean and luxurious look. The style in which the brand assets were created was to pay homage to a famous French painting style executed on canvas called Toile de Jouy.

Green was chosen as the predominant color because it reminded me of France's beautiful greenery and is used often in Toile de Jouy. The color selection gives a cozy yet modern impression to the branding. The reddish hue was used as the color of the menus as it is complementary to green and a color used in the painting technique. I chose beige to represent the canvas color.
